Build My Life

Worthy of every song we could ever sing

We sing songs that praise God for who He is, what He has done in this world and in our lives, and what He is currently doing in our lives.  Yet the more we continue to learn about how complex and beautiful the world we live in is, and the more we continue to see Him more clearly as He works in our lives, the more we realize that no human words are truly able to express just how amazing He is.  Any song we sing is still an incomplete response to a God so good, falling short of adequately expressing to Him the true measure of His worth.  Take a moment just to recognize His greatness and rest in the knowledge that He is on your side.

Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring

We don’t just praise with song.  We show the greatest praise and honor by trusting Him and allowing Him to change our lives.  All our life is meant to be an act of praise to Him.  Psalm 103:2 says “Let all that I am praise the Lord”.  How can you praise Him today with your life?

Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the great and foremost commandment.”  In other words, we show our love for Him in how we live our lives, fully engaged with Him in all our being.

Jesus the name above any other name

Philippians 2:9-10 says, “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  There are many things we give our attention and praise to.  To what do you give the most attention and praise in your life?

Jesus the only one who could ever save

Acts 4:12 says, “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  No other faith.  No other philosophy.  No act of man.  No act of will.  Only surrender to and acceptance of what has already been done.

Holy
There is no one like You
There is none beside You

These lines echo the song Moses sang with the Israelites in Exodus 15.  In verse 11, they sang, “Who among the gods is like you, Lord?  Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”

Open up my eyes in wonder
Show me who You are

Pray that God will open your eyes to see the glory of who He is, not only in how He is working in His creation, but how He is moving in Your life.  Write down what He reveals to you.

Fill me with Your heart

Pray that God will grant you what was promised in Ezekiel 36:26, when He said, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Lead me in Your love to those around me

Pray that God will give you discernment to see the needs of the those around you and the courage to respond in love.  Write down ways that you can do that.

I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation

Everyone builds their life on something.  It could be on their own self worth.  It could be on how others view them.  It could be on their education or level of success.  It could be on their talents.  Jesus said in Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  What do you currently build your life on?  Ask Him to give you the power to surrender it all to Him.

I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken

Trust is made complete in action.  Once you have firmly established yourself on the solid foundation of Christ, trust means acting from that foundation.  Taking steps of faith.  And knowing that no matter the “outcome”, God is with you.  How is God calling you to move?  To what is He asking you to trust Him?

Until next time…
